Roadtrip up North

La Serena, Coquimbo & Valle del Elqui

Took some time out of the smog in Santiago to visit some places up north. La Serena is a 6 hr trip north of Santiago, Coquimbo is close by and Valle del Elqui (by far my fave place so far in our world tour) is 2 hrs inland (mountainside) from La Serena.

Pics speak louder than words, so i'm gonna let them do just that. Took my breath away, Elqui did. Mountains, rocks, fresh air n stars. Soooo in my element!!

Mexican Fiesta / Mother's Day

And Mariachis to Boot!

We combined Mother's Day and Claud's & my b'day last saturday. Theme was Mexican night, with people dressed up and genuine mexican music pumping. Everyone spoke like Speedy Gonzalez too. Very true to the cause.

Anyway, pics are better than words... check out the girls with their (fake) plats and the big ass mexican hat that everyone got a chance to wear. Top night. Andale Andale!!

Students Day at Craighouse

and your MC for the day...

Craighouse (my lovely place of work) put on quite a show for what's known as ¨Students Day¨, where kids dress up and of course, no classes are on. This year the school went all out and even got a professional dancer to get up on stage and teach the kids (and teachers) some moves.

I got in on the action, danced my little heart out (a bit of a workout) and I did my bit for the community... Got to be MC for the day!!

I love the microphone...

More Birthday Pics

Couldn't leave these out.

Birthdays

Time to Par-tay!!

The pics are proof of the awesome night we had on sat 6th to celebrate two MILESTONE birthdays: Claudia's 25th & my 30th (oh my god. Can't believe i'm almost 30).

Anyway, we started off at Euphoria, a cocktail bar with VERY yum drinks (happy hour from 6-10. We took full advantage of this situation) and then off to Galpon 6 - Cerro Bellavista, a pretty cool club with unfortunate 80s music. It was still heaps of fun though, mainly because we got to dance around like dags with reason (we had the music to back us up).

And another special moment was that my friend Carlos and I finally caught up, we hadn't seen each other in about 8 years...

Enjoy the pics, they're tops! (and they're in Black n White because we all look so much prettier... )

The Alvarfz Clan 2006

All Grown Up

Aren't we just the handsomest set of cousins you ever saw? Geez we turned out to be good lookin´!!!
(L-R) Cristian, Paula, Claudia, Nicolas, Yours Truly, Cesar, Jessica & Yeye.

This one's for Granma's wall.

Lil Sis is with us

And there's smiles all round!
The day finally came and lil old Clauds made it to Santiago without much mishap. One of her suitcases popped upon arrival, but hey, it could've been worse, Aerolineas Argentinas has been known to ¨misplace¨one's belongings and send them off to Miami instead of your actual destination, or better still, they lose them altogether.

Anyway, so we made sure the compulsory trip to see the relos took place, we had a nice lunch with all the cousins and Grant has been busy showing her the sights (showing off his adopted home city. It's funny that he knows his way around so much better than Clauds!!).

Expect a lot more pics soon enough.

ps. We went to another Wino thingy the day before Clauds arrived. It kicked ass on the last one, not as pretty an outing but the wine glasses were HUGE- I'm talking Catholic Mass big - and we had waaaay more wine tastings than we were entitled to. Not to mention the obscenely large serves we got each time. It was so good, that even though a nameless party ruined my fave T shit with red wine, I don't remember getting at all upset. In fact, I was off my chops laughing about it. Good night! AND the next day there was a report on this thingy and we were on it. How about that! Not even 4 months in the country and on National TV already.
